POSITION SUMMARY:

The Staff Accountant position is accountable for the ongoing analysis of work in progress, margin analysis, and tracing costs back to underlying activities. Any number of the below responsibilities may be daily, monthly, quarterly, or annual tasks for this individual. Also gathers data and the corresponding back up to substantiate billing. We are looking for a candidate who excels in all facets of general accounting.

POSITION DETAILS:

SHIFT: 1st

SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday 

SALARY: $55,000 to $65,000

DUTIES & FUNCTIONS:

  • Reconcile GL accounts and bank statements
  • Prepare journal entries and post to general ledger
  • Administration of general bookkeeping and monthly payables processes
  • Help with monthly andquarterly sales tax returns and financial statement preparation for multiple states
  • Maintain and assist with inventory reconciliation
  • Record A/R, A/P, 1099-Misc reporting, and collecting W9s from vendors and contractors; any tax-exempt documentation
  • Support month-end and year-end close process
  • Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information
  • Review all costs/receipts and analyze data to uncover any missing expenses or billable items on each job, and ensures they are accurately reflecting manufacturing costs
  • Prepares customer invoices as specified in contract
  • Primary ownership of billing process, ensuring all invoices are created and sent in a timely manner
  • Monthly Reconciliation of company credit cards, per cardholder and entering the transactions in company’s ERP system, collecting all supporting documentations
  • Create and review the controls needed for data accumulation and reporting systems
  • Responsible for preparing various journal entries including any necessary A/R journal entries, interest income journal entries and any other assigned journal entries, and accruals
  • Review, analyze, and establish standard labor and overhead rates for services.
  • Generate customer statements
  • Entering new and updating existing Job budgets; Job Cost Analysis
  • Creating new clients and vendors profiles, job numbers, and making any updates to the existing lists in the company ERP system, per company’s policies and procedures

Qualifications


QUALIFICATIONS & EDUCATION:

  • BA/BS degree preferred
  • 3-5 years cost accounting and billing experience, in a janitorial, construction, or manufacturing environment preferred
  • Excellent analysis and critical thinking skills
  • Advanced proficiency in QuickBooks, MS Outlook, Word and Excel. Ability to create and manipulate large spreadsheets.
  • Winteam/Team Software use a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, and percentages
  • Ability to analyze statistical and financial data with acute attention to detail
  • Ability to work extra hours as needed to meet deadlines during month end closing, budget preparation, forecasts and other deadlines
  • Professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prepare reports and business correspondence
  • Ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of various teams and committees
